CAUSES & ISSUES
HUMAN RIGHTS
Pablo firmly believes in upholding human rights, which includes advocating for and supporting reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, gender equality and more!
Focusing on these issues helps to ensure that an individuals' autonomy and dignity are respected, regardless of their health choices, sexual orientation, or gender identity
FIGHT CORPORATE GREED
Pablo wants to work towards real change surrounding economic policies which favor Wall Street and corporate CEOs
There is a need for increased accountability in corporations and capital markets
In 2022, CEOs of S&P 500 companies received, on average, $16.7 million in total compensation. This was the second-highest level of CEO pay in history for S&P 500 Index companies.
HEALTH EQUITY & ACCESS
Social and economic inequities continue to increase health disparities for marginalized groups, which are being worsened by climate change
Pablo encourages people to promote equity by recognizing and addressing the intersecting challenges faced by vulnerable populations such as LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals to ensure equal access to resources and services
FACTS
Americans spend far more on health than any other country in the world, yet the life expectancy of the US population is shorter than in other rich countries who spend far less. (Our World in Data, 2020)
One example of this statistic is shared here: In 2019, the life expectancy of the Native American population in the United States was already the lowest of any racial/ethnic group, at 75 years for women and 68.6 for men. By 2021, those numbers had slipped to 70.4 for women and just under 64 for men. (CU Boulder, 2022)
“If we are ever going to get to equity, we have to walk through truth, even when it’s unpleasant. Even when it makes us uncomfortable.”
